Hindu wedding e-invite wording in English
A Hindu wedding invitation can honour family customs while remaining easy for overseas friends to understand. There is no single wording that represents every region or family. Decide with the couple and hosts which invocation, names and ceremonies belong on the card, then use short explanations where a guest may not know the term. This guide offers a flexible English draft, not a religious prescription.

Build a readable ceremony order
Put the wedding ceremony date and location first. If the same guest is invited to haldi, mehendi, sangeet or a reception, give each its own date, arrival time and venue. Do not assume an international guest knows whether the ceremony is the same event as the reception. If the phere begin at a precise time, distinguish the requested guest arrival time from the ceremony time so nobody misses the important part.
Choose an invocation with your family
The Hindu maker offers Shri Ganesh, kalash or an auspicious Hindu swastika emblem. These are optional style choices; discuss religious wording with the people hosting the ceremony. When sending invitations to guests unfamiliar with Indian traditions, an accompanying note can explain the symbol and context. Do not describe every auspicious date as a confirmed muhurat: verify the date and time independently with the person conducting your ceremony.
Make hospitality instructions concrete
State a dress suggestion only if it helps: for example, Indian festive or smart formal, with comfortable footwear for the venue. Explain practical arrangements in a short guest note, such as outdoor seating, transport or where to find the vegetarian meal. Confirm accessibility directly with the venue rather than implying a template guarantees it. Keep gifts, dietary responses and hotel instructions out of the main ceremony sentence so the invitation stays welcoming.
Check the card before sharing
Review Roman and Devanagari spellings together; a transliteration suggestion is editable. Use English or Hindi + English if relatives and friends need different scripts. Zoom into the free watermarked preview to check parents’ names and long venue lines. A JPG suits WhatsApp, while the print PDF includes safe margins and bleed for a printer. Read the final date aloud with someone from the family, especially when a reception is the day after the wedding.
English wording you can adapt
With the blessings of Shri Ganesh and our elders, the Sharma and Mehta families invite you to the wedding of Priya and Arjun. Please join us on Saturday, 20 February 2027, at Rose Garden Hall, Jaipur, India. Guest arrival: 10:30 AM IST · Wedding ceremony: 11:00 AM IST. Reception: 7:00 PM IST. We look forward to celebrating with you.
Replace every example name, address, date and RSVP instruction with your confirmed details. Do not send an example venue as if it were booked.
Time zones: show the venue time first
Write the date in words, for example “20 February 2027”, so US and UK guests do not reverse the day and month. Put the city and time zone beside the time. India uses IST (UTC+05:30); Toronto and London can change offset with daylight saving, so check the event’s date rather than today’s clock. For example, on 20 February 2027, 11:00 AM in Jaipur is 12:30 AM in Toronto and 5:30 AM in London. Label any second time as a guest reference and keep the venue time prominent.
The maker prints the time you enter without converting it. Its current guest calendar/countdown assumes IST, so for a wedding outside India use the printed local-time details and share your own verified calendar invitation. Do not rely on the automatic guest calendar for an overseas venue. Check any conversion with a calendar set to the actual event date before sending.

Questions families ask
Must the invitation include a Sanskrit verse?
No. Choose wording with your family. A short English invitation can still be respectful; the sample is optional and does not replace advice from your officiant.
Can I separate the wedding and reception?
Yes. Add them as separate functions with their own dates, times and locations, and only include events that the recipient is invited to.
